Project Overview
Forbes Shire Council drilled a new third water supply production bore to supplement the two existing bores along Lachlan Valley Way 9km from Forbes the project involved the fit out of the new town bore and connection into the to be constructed 5km x 375mm DICL new rising main. The project included design supply and installation of bore pump associated electrical control and monitoring equipment. The project was undertaken through funding made available through NSW Water Security for regions program.
Works Undertaken
- 5.0km of 375mm DICL Rising Mains from Bore to branch connection.
- 10 required Isolation Valves, Air Valves and Scour Valves along the pipeline route
- Interconnect 375mm DICL main to existing 400mm AC including all isolating valves
- Supply and install Cast stainless steel Electric Submersible Pump 75kw on heavy duty lay flat pump column complete with all required stainless-steel fittings.
- Hydraulic Manifold arrangement at bore head including Water meter, Valves, and all associated connection fittings to link to the new 375mm DICL mainline.
- Design supply and install suitably sized consumer mains from the supply authority including Generator backup upgrade and all required bore pump electrical.
- Design supply and install Electrical pump shed Switchboard and Motor control centre including Variable Speed Pump drive to interface with councils clear Scada control system to monitor bore water depth and current and cumulative flow rates to council WTP.
- Elevated Brick -Concrete pump Shed elevated to 1.8mrts for flood protection
- Testing and Commissioning of Pipeline and Pump Station

- Project finished on schedule and budget even with wet weather delays
- No major disruption to town water supply through the project duration
- Major infrastructure branch connection at end of 375mm main into existing 400mm AC
- RMS Road daily traffic management along roadside to eliminate traffic delays
- No underground service strikes for the duration of the project
- 3 branch roads to cross without causing traffic delays
