Project Overview
Council is currently progressing the delivery of new sewer mains which is an extension of the new main from the Parkes SAP along with the existing reticulations main. The project involves the installation of approximately 1.74 km of new sewer pipeline west of Forbes Road, along Hartigan Avenue.
The delivery of Parkes Precinct is anticipated to result in a significant positive impact on the future growth in population and employment opportunities in the Parkes local government area (LGA). This population and employment growth will create additional demand for new and upgraded local infrastructure.
With this additional load from SAP and other resulting industries, the Parkes Sewerage Scheme infrastructure will have additional demand for it. This means the additional pumping station and sewer mains are required to pump raw sewage and sewer pipes to transporting the waste to a treatment plant. There is currently no wastewater infrastructure servicing the Parkes SAP.
This project will support future growth and sustainability with the Parkes area and allow for the provision of safe and reliable sewer reticulation system.
Description of Works.
The Parkes SAP development is an industrial area that is located on the outskirts of the western side of Parkes. The proposed gravity sewer main will run along the northern side of Hartigan Ave before crossing to the southern side of Hartigan Avenue and crossing under the active rail corridor. The gravity sewer main will continue east, crossing Forbes Rd until reaching the proposed connection point to a manhole located along Austral St
