NARRABRI -MAITLAND ST RETICULATION MAINS

1.1kms of PVC Reticulation Mains and associated infrastructure

Narrabri Shire Council required a Construct only Potable pipeline upgrade for the main street in Narrabri, Maitland St. Council has identified the need to replace an existing pipeline along Maitland St as there are major leaking service outlets in the street and the street has been allocated to be resurfaced so replacement mains will need to installed prior to road upgrades. Replacement of water main between Killarney Street and Denison Street (1.2km) with new PVC PN 16 DN200 water main. Alignment to be approximately 5m from front of kerb (outside of travel lanes). New water main to be connected to existing AC water main north of Killarney Street and South of Denison Street. There are 6 branch offtake connections on the existing main and 62 existing metered service lines along the alignment, all existing service connections to pipelines are to be kept in service throughout the works and transferred to the proposed new pipeline as part of the commissioning of the works.

Works Undertaken

• Open trench Construction of approximately 1.2km of DN200 PVC Water main.
• Installation of 20 Fire Hydrant out valves along the mainline.
• Installation of 11 Isolation Gate Valves along Maitland St pipeline.
• Connection into the existing DN200 AC supply main at each end of Maitland St
• 6 branch line connections to pick up off existing AC main lines
• 62 existing meter connections to be transferred off existing mainline
• Manage Traffic Control and pedestrian movements per day along Maitland St
• Testing – Commissioning and Disinfection of new PVC Pipeline

• Project finished on schedule and budget even with delays due rock layer
• No major disruption to town water supply through the project duration
• Daily traffic and pedestrian management along Maitland St to eliminate delays
• No underground service strikes for the duration of the project
• 6 branch roads to cross without causing traffic delays or business house disruption
• Night works of all metered services so no disruption to business houses
